Robb mobile giant to be liquidated and Stucky-msnbc.com

FORT MYERS: It is considered one of the most iconic of Southwest Florida. And nearly 100 years after opening his first store, furniture giant Robb & Stucky is in the hands of an administrator.

A judge has approved the sale late Tuesday after the company filed for bankruptcy last month.

The decision could mean savings for new customers, but the bad news for anyone who is waiting for a delivery.

There were still buyers at Robb & Stucky Tuesday in Fort Myers. Once a symbol of luxury Southwest Florida, is now just another shop is going to be liquidated.

"Robb & Stucky grew during the boom. When he went away, so did people buying furniture, "said bankruptcy Fort Myers Attorney Carmen Dellutri.

All the furniture in every shop will be sold to pay off the banks. You might find good deals from this week. But some people won't find the sale so sweet.

Robb & Stucky has yet customers $ 13-million-dollar Mobile – Mobile have not yet delivered. And now customers couldn't get such a thing.

"I'd like to see the passage of the liquidator up to the plate and honor as many claims as possible, but consumers may end up with nothing," said Dellutri.

And this is a devastating thing for the company to leave behind.

Earlier Tuesday, a sign outside his headquarters promised that we shall fight.

But in the course of the day, Robb and President Stucky Dan Lubner wrote in an email, "Unfortunately, we ran out of time."

Dellutri says if you're waiting for mail delivery, watch for messages from the Court.

If you paid by credit card-contest. And from now on, she says, think twice about what you buy.

"As a consumer, you really got to look at themselves and say, ' if I'm going to buy this, I'm going to take my merchandise with me when I walk out the door? '" said Dellutri.

Tuesday afternoon, we talked with the attorney representing Robb & Stucky in court. He said that the liquidator is planning to honor at least some of these outstanding orders, but not everyone will have the possibility of what they paid.

The lawyer said there is a small chance that the company might try to keep a small shop opened, but added that it is too early to say whether this will happen for sure.
